Based on activated silica compounds, this technology was originally intended as a performance level compound, but after intensive development at our German R&D facility, an advanced new compound with outstanding grip, elasticity and rolling properties was developed. This new mix was given the self-explanatory name “Pure Grip”, ranked just behind our BlackChili compound and will be used in our new performance products both in road and MTB sectors.
ShieldWall System: Optimally combining high puncture protection with easy rolling and low resistance. Designed from an extra casing layer of finely cross-woven material throughout the tyre (from bead to opposing bead), the ShieldWall helps protect from direct punctures and other damage such as cuts and scuffs to the casing.
Despite the extra layer, a perfect fitment and secure sealing allows the tyre to perform flawlessly and with good flexibilty. In addition to the ShieldWall System, our Performance tyres are also Tubeless-Ready. The Tubeless-Ready footing allows a light and uncomplicated mounting of the tyre. For optimal sealing results, we recommend the use of the new Continental RevoSealant.
Continental Tubeless Ready tyres can be used both with and without an inner tube. To use it without a tube the tyre is sealed with a special sealing milk.
The Tubeless Ready bead allows easier and less complicated assembly of the tyre. All mountain bike tyres from Continental are Tubeless Ready in the ProTection and Performance formats. This additional protection layer completely encircles both tyre beads and makes our carcas robust and impervious against damage and penetration from foreign objects. For optimum sealing results and use, we recommend using the Continental RevoSealant.
Suitable for E-Bikes: For our E-Bike tire we fall back on over 100 years’ experience with moped and motorcycle tires. All of our city/trekking tires are rated to a standard speed of at least 25 km/h. Those tires marked E50 are also certified for S-Pedelecs. With their high quality structure, puncture protection is high and the rolling resistance is low offering protection from premature wear brought about by the additional driving force.
