BlackChili compound is exclusively manufactured at the Continental factory in Korbach, Germany, combining the very latest polymers with specially developed carbon black particles and filler materials. Both cars and bikes benefit from this technology. Vectran is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fibre from a natural model. Vectran has an enormous tear resistance at a very low weight: Exactly the right properties to process into a premium Continental bicycle tyre, such as the Grand Prix 5000 as a puncture protection insert. A Vectran Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than the comparable nylon breaker. Vectran Breaker does not adversely affect the rolling resistance.
The lazered micro profile structure expands over the tyre’s shoulder and provides outstanding cornering. Giving the look of a fully grooved tread pattern yet providing more surface area of tread to grip the road, Lazer Grip marks a new standard in tread pattern technology. The special etching of the lazer into the rubber also gives a more professional and clean finish to the tread surface.
